First and third at Silverstone

A great result at Silverstone still leaves the team with a big challenge.

With stiff competition lined up against them it seemed like a distant prospect to bring anything home from Silverstone but the Neil Garner Motorsport team did just that with a third and first in each race. The Motionsport Wolf CN was expected to dominate the weekend sharing any spoils with the Rollcentre Racing Mosler Super GT but with technical problems affecting both cars Javier Morcillo and Manuel Cintrano were there to pick up the pieces.

Race 1 saw the Wolf and Mosler dominate as expected but Javier Morcillo, taking the first session, swept past the Stark Racing Ginetta on lap 2 to take 3rd place. After the pit stops Manuel dropped to 4th after being chased down and caught by the ever rapid Mike Millard and his Rapier, however the Rapiers legendary reliability problems caused a late pit stop for the car allowing Manuel to retake third and build enough of a gap to keep the position.

Martin Shorts Mosler was looking good for the win having caught and passed the Wolf however a broken cam chain 2 corners from the end left him coasting over the line letting the Wolf take the win. Manuel took third after not being quite close enough to steal second place from the crippled Mosler.

Race 2 proved a different affair with the Rollcentre Mosler being withdrawn before the start so an easy second victory looked on the cards for the Wolf. At the start the Wolf once again did it's disappearing trick whilst the Stark Racing Ginetta stopped at the first corner after throwing an oil line.

This time Manuel started the race and was soon behind the Ferrari of Calum Lockie. Driving a supreme race Manuel stayed with the professional driver for the course of his stint allowing Morcillo to take over and catch and pass the Ferrari. Up to second place the results seemed settled until with 20 minutes left the Wolf picked up a puncture which left it stranded in the Wing pitlane.

Javier took the lead and finally brought the Mosler home 1 minute and 2 seconds ahead of the FF Corse Ferrari. With 2 races to go at Donington Park in November these were valuable points earned however it was still enough for the Ferrari team to maintain their championship lead.

The Neil Garner team is now looking towards Donington knowing 2 wins and a hefty dose of luck will be required to take the championship. With a never say die spirit running through the whole team the final two races will be a challenge that they intend to rise to.
