The team arrives in Italy for the 6 ore di Imola!

The Le Mans Series calendar takes us this weekend to Imola in North-Eastern Italy for the 3rd leg of the championship.

Roughly 40 minutes from the well-known city Bologna, the 4.9km circuit is of course famous for having staged the Formula 1 Grand Prix and also for regularly holding one of the six Le Mans Series events.

The anticlockwise track, one of few in Europe, is compared to a rollacoaster; comprising of several fast straights and 17 corners, including the tragic Tamburello chicane where Brazilian Ayrton Senna lost his life in May 1994. To this day, Senna is reknowned as being one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers and the Italian circuit holds many memories of the tragic story.

Here this weekend the race promises to be as exciting as the last round, at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium; once again the Le Mans Series participants are to be joined by those of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup championship. Fifty cars will hence take to the hot tarmac on Sunday, all in search of a win.

A win, which as ever is the aim for Neil Garner Motorsport. Currently placed 3rd in the championship, after the Formula Le Mans car scored 3rd at the Belgian 6h race. The team still seeks a first place finish in their debut season in Le Mans Series; a difficult target, but far from impossible.

The sun looks to be shining through until Sunday, so the dry conditions will allow the cars be pushed to their limit. The action starts tomorrow with the first Free Practice session at 12.15pm.
