Supercar Challenge Race Review

NGMSport made their second visit of the year to Spa Francorchamps this weekend claiming creditable 4th and 7th place finishes in each race. The weekend nearly ended before it had really got started when during Friday practise one of the gear ratios lost a tooth. Despite this piece of shrapnel floating around the internals no other damage was done however the team were faced with a long night stripping down and rebuilding the gearbox.

Despite the hard work a second gremlin had worked its way in which resulted in the team failing to put in any qualifying laps while the gearbox was once again stripped down and rebuilt.

With a back of the grid starting place confirmed for both races drivers Manuel Cintrano and Javier Morcillo faced a hard job to get a result at a circuit where the long straights meant the flat out speed of the Mosler was not enough to match the more modern GT3 cars.

Race 1 saw Morcillo take the fight to the other competitors as he scythed his way through the field so by the pit stop he'd taken the Mosler from P20 to P4. Taking his place in the car at the half way point Cintrano drove one of his best races to maintain the fourth place position at the chequered flag.

Race 2 was marred by an accident on the first lap which brought about a 15 minute safety car period. At the re-start Morcillo once again fought his way through the field getting up to P7 in his shortened stint before handing the car over. Another confidant drive from Cintrano secured the position and brought to a close the teams debut year in the Supercar Challenge.
